Halo – What To Expect At E3

For the past 15 years at E3 Halo has never shown up empty handed and this year is bound to be no different. While nothing here is officially confirmed, using logic, what we already know and everyone’s favorite search engine Bing we can draw some logical conclusions on what to expect from Halo and 343 industries at E3 this June.

Halo Wars 2 Campaign DLC

A first for the franchise, among other things, stated in the Halo Wars 2 season pass was a small mentioning of campaign DLC.

The Halo Wars 2 Season Pass delivers regular content updates that span more than six months, including: new leaders with abilities that change the course of multiplayer battles, new units that add to your multiplayer arsenal, and a new campaign expansion featuring exclusive missions.

As to what campaign expansion will be about, there hasn’t really been any details but it’s likely to either cover the antagonist Atriox and his new faction “The Banished” or continue with our main protagonists on The Spirit Of Fire. None the less of all things mentioned here, this one will probably be the most likely, and if there is no E3 mentioning then GamesCon would be the next likely viable time to announce such information.

Halo 6 Beta

Post-MCC, members of 343 have gone on record to say that all future Halo games will have a beta. Furthermore, following the trend of the Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2 beta we can likely expect the Halo 6 iteration to be released quite some time before the actual game launches in order to actually implement feedback and have enough time to do.

On a personal note I would like to commend 343 for doing something not many other companies do and have their betas months and not a month before the game to actually ¬†have time to implement feedback, hate them or love them it’s a respectable practice.

With mainline Halo games being on a 3 year cycle, we can expect Halo 6 in 2018 and the beta possibly this year.

The Halo TV Show

You remember this shit ? Some of you probably don’t. Announced back in 2013 before the Xbox One even came out was the Halo TV show, and in regards to news the only thing we’ve gotten is the yearly confirmation that it’s still a thing.

What we do know is that some small time nobody named Steven Spielberg will be a producer on the show and people have gone on record to state that the show will have a budget on par with Game of Thrones.

While I don’t think it’s gonna be this year and more likely next year as Halo shows like to to tie into the next game (Forward Unto Dawn, Nightfall) there’s still a chance that we finally get some announcement… 5 years later.

The Next/Possibly Final Halo 5 Content Update

With Halo 5’s launch, all DLC updates were scheduled monthly from October 2015 all the way to June 2016. After that anything we would receive would be released when it’s done, and less frequently. The updates have slowed down as time has went on and while it’s not confirmed we may be approaching the end of Halo 5’s DLC cycle as 343 devotes more man power to Halo 6 and whatever else they have up their sleeve.

Halo modders have alos went into the games code on the PC edition to find a wealth of weapons still unreleased/unfinished. Additionally there are still some photoed armor sets yet to be released as well. So while this may not be the final, once again, we probaly are reaching the end as 343 releases whatever remains.

Just shooting from the hip on these. Frank O’ Connor went on record at some point to state that he’d be interested in collaborating with Tell Tall Games to do a more story focused Halo game, so that might be possible.

Xbox is looking into and has already begun working on VR and related games. People have gone online to find information stating that Xbox is looking to hire people to create a VR title for an established franchise, could it be Halo? Or could we be chain sawing people in Gears with VR (I think that’s a win either way).

A Halo spin off game, somewhat unlikely but possible, it’s been since 2009 that we’ve gotten a true spin off with Halo 3: ODST. Also there was released footage of a scrapped E for Everyone Halo game, maybe progress could be picked back up on that.

No Halo 3: Anniversary

And finally, there will most likely not be a Halo 3: Anniversary announcement this year. Phil Spencer and multiple and 343 employees have gone on record to say that their will be no such game to release this year (Maybe 15 year anniversary?). Although there are still some believers hanging in their. None the less, we’ll have to wait and see next month.

UPDATE: Halo Community Manager, Sketch said this last night in the comment section of a reddit post.

I’ll slip into my Dreamcrusher persona for a minute in the name of realistic expectations: We’ve said this already but we’ll have a little something at E3 but it’s not related to the next major entry in the franchise.
