The Long Road to Pro
November 10th 2016 was the launch of the Playstation 4 Pro and many people at the time were questioning the value of the Pro. It’s biggest selling point is that it could enhance some of the games you already own (as long as the developer updates it) as well as many upcoming games. At the time the game I wondered most about having a “Pro” update was The Witcher 3. I took to the internet in search of the mighty list of games getting groovy Pro makeovers. After finding out The Witcher 3 was not on the list I searched the rest of the internet to find a 2016 email from CD Projekt saying they “have no plans to release a PS4 Pro edition for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”.
But recently it was revealed at this years E3 that The Witcher 3 would be getting an enhancement update for the One X and Pro. What changed CD’s mind about making the 4k update? Could this be Microsoft’s doing or something else? As stated in the email CD said they wanted to be focused on their current projects Cyberpunk 2077 and the Gwent standalone game. Recently the beta for the Gwent game opened up. Maybe this freed up some devs to create the enhancement update. Maybe it’s none of the above and a third-party is developing the update for CD. Currently there is no information on when this update will be available. What I do know for sure is that I cannot wait for this update and to be able to play the Witcher 3 in 4K.
