Living up to the Colossus of Shadow of the Colossus

There is no doubt about it, I love Shadow of the Colossus. The game was amazing back on the Playstation 2 and still held up very well in the Ps3 remaster. But now the game is being given the full Playstation 4 makeover similar to the makeovers given to other games like Oddworld New n tasty and the upcoming Crash N Sain trilogy. I have a lot of hype and concerns for the game so I’m just going to go over it all and hopefully the remaster will live up to the original.

The Excitement Relieved

This game changed how I thought about games and playing them. The game only has sixteen enemies or bosses to fight in the whole game. Sixteen fights in the whole game didn’t sound like much to me back in the day. I was use to games where you would fight almost non stop and ripped apart foes without thinking. But this game put the excitement and awe back into fighting because every fight in this game feels different and personal as you scale majestic behemoths to slay them. With the ps4 and ps4 pro’s power I think that these moments of awe and excitement will be even better.

The World renewed

It’s strange that in an age of open world games and everyone being worried about content-less worlds that one of my favorite and many others favorite open worlds is the world of Shadow of the Colossus. But in my honest opinion the world of Shadow of the Colossus is very empty . But that’s the beauty of it all you do in it is travel from one colossi to the next and occasionally stop for a save and a lizard tale. It’s all about the build up as you travel across the seamless world and watch the scenery change. The closer you get the  more hyped you get and if it’s your first playthrough you don’t know what you’re gonna face and anything could shake the earth and stomp into view. It’s a very exciting and thrilling feeling and the Ps4 could really bring that world to life.

Replayability and Secrets

The one thing I hear a lot of when people talk about Shadow of The Colossus is that the game has a lot of replayability. It has a new game plus and this new game plus does the usual like keep your upgraded grip bar and health bar progress. The best part about new game plus though was the fact you could continue upgrading the old grip bar allowing you to find extra secrets with each playthrough. My hope is that maybe team Ico will add even more secrets and reasons to play again.

Other Side of the Coin

There is a lot to get excited about in the Shadow remaster but there is also a lot to keep in mind. It could have a bad frame rate like we saw in The Last Guardian. Which had very unstable frame rates even on Pro. This next one is more of a personal issue but the controls in the original felt a little unresponsive. This personally lead to many deaths that seemed unfair. The same controls were also in The Last Guardian so they could also still be in the Shadow remaster. But even with the possibility of all the negative, I am still very hyped for this game and cannot wait for its 2018 release!!!!!

I am a human person that live one earth. Yes I know earth is a very boring planet to live on and doesn't have cool floating mountains or the space carnival but it does have video games and I like video games.
