Ever since the reveal of Shenmue 3, back in June 2015 at E3, the team at Ys Net at been relatively quiet, providing small updates on an almost monthly basis. The game was even delayed just a month ago and confirmed not to appear at E3 – and it didn’t. Many fans have grown worried about the game, predicting it might suffer the same fate as Mightyno.9, be it due to under-funding or bad management. However the team have announced that new footage of the game will be shown off at Gamescom 2017 in Germany.
Perhaps this is to give it some time under the spotlight? Despite how famous the Shenmue series is, it would most likely have been dwarfed by the bigger triple A games or surprise announcements (lookin’ at you Prime 4) at E3. Alongside this announcement was a new update for the logo, and some new character concepts and models.
Some might remember when the game Yooka-Laylee had its big blowout on information after continuous small updates, as the game got steadily closer to release. Maybe Shenmue 3 will do the same here? Or will we hear about those remastered ports of the original two? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
